Re:Fancy a punt? - 2006/05/02 19:11 Charles:

After you mentioned how building the industrial stuff isn't really viable (with rents at £10 a foot max, I am not surprised), is it a requirement to rehouse existing businesses, or did you just feel a bit sorry for them?

Re:Fancy a punt? - 2006/05/03 10:15 Paul, our motivation for building new industrial space to replace most of what we are contemplating demolishing is not really an issue. What is an issue is that our proposal should take into account the needs of the town for new industrial space as well as new office, retail and leisure space and consider the needs of the existing occupiers.

Re:Fancy a punt? - 2006/05/03 11:11 The developer has no choice, if he wants to build on this site he has to replace the industrial units elsewhere to get change of use. This is not a generous gift to the town it is a business decision, which is fair enough. I hope all the businesses that he has finally decided to consult will take what he has to say with a pinch of salt, because this is someone who thinks (when describing tall buildings)) that 4 plus 4 equals 4 (with a few extra bits), and then tries to threaten us with an ugly devlopment if we won't let him have towers.

Re:Fancy a punt? - 2006/05/03 14:26 Thank you to Charles Style for replying so quickly and for bringing us copies of the plans for the proposed relocation of the motor trade businesses. Although we are pleased to see some movement It must be said that there is still some way to go. It is worrying that the plans, as yet, are really no more than someone's idea of where we could be put and there is as yet nothing confirmed on paper as to the actual positions, sizes and costings of these proposals. We hope that these concerns will be addressed in the very near future. as time is running out very quickly for all concerned . Brian Smith

Dear site visitor at IP address 38.103.63.60. We were forced to make it necessary for you to register and login before making forum postings because of the constant flood of unwanted and often abusive material that was being uploaded by anonymous spammers from all over the world. I'm sure you know the sort of stuff - viagra ads and the like - what a bore! But you can of course read the postings without logging in, and in any case it only takes a couple of minutes to register - you're not losing your privacy, but you're keeping out the spammers. So do please register and continue using the forum - we need your input! Thanks, Lewes Matters Admin.
