I notice that whilst you are all keen to promote Mr Style as a trustworthy developer, none of you have yet answered my question. Why did Mr Style build a 5 story building without permission, and mislead councillors? Is that because you support misleading councillors and building poor quality buildings without permission? If so, I doubt anyone will take any of what you say seriously.
I have been to the Jam Factory and spoken to residents there. It is shameful, and there is a lot for Lewes residents to be very concerned about. It is not a case of making mistakes, there have been wilful attempts to exploit residents to benefit Angel property, as the powers that be have agreed, including a judge. Most importantly is the manner in which Mr Style abused the outline planning permission he was given. I would recommend anyone to contact the Jam Factory Residents Assopciation who will be delighted to explain in detail what has been going on, all about Mr Style's involvement and the yet to be resolved mess.
I appreciate why you might be focussed on nice design ideas and a cinema, but it seems you do not understand the planning system. I know I didn't when I was 18. Mr Style has already admitted he intends to sell the land with outline planning permission to another developer, such as Barrat homes (who he has been in talks with) so the design is immaterial.
To be positive, I would love to see the land developed properly, but Mr Style has made it very clear that he is the last person we should trust to do it. That is his problem, and he only has himself to blame.

How confused and condescending is this person?
First, denying it’s the plan that’s important, not the developer.
IT’S THE PLAN THAT’S IMPORTANT, NOT THE DEVELOPER.
Second, insulting us because he/she thinks we’re kids who don’t know/understand anything.
AT LEAST WE HAVE OPEN MINDS AND ARE PREPARED TO LISTEN AND DEBATE RATHER THAN JUST SLAG OFF.
Third, contradicting himself/herself by accusing the developer of intending to sell the land if/when outline planning permission is granted. Surely he/she should be pleased rather than affronted. Why? Because...
IT’S THE PLAN THAT’S IMPORTANT, NOT THE DEVELOPER.
So let’s concentrate on the plan. What’s wrong with it? Well, John Stockdale believes the site should remain light industrial without housing, retail, leisure and so on. That’s a view, but not one that I share. I would like this town to come alive with new opportunities for us all. And if Charles Style et al can deliver that, one way or another, then I’m for it. Simple as that.

Re:GO AWAY MR STYLE - 2008/04/01 09:27Well said adam,i completely agree with everyitng you have said. Once again people are dragging in matters that are pointless, it does not matter whether im 17 or 55 i am a lewes resident and i care purely about the development, not the developers past or how old people are.

Perhaps Mr Style will let us know whether this is the case.

Re:GO AWAY MR STYLE - 2008/04/01 23:16Harry,
Despite the fact that I said that I would not get drawn into debate on this website as it invariably becomes abusive, I would like to answer your question.
It is most refreshing to hear that you now want me to guarantee that Angel Property will not sell our land to another developer at a profit once outline planning consent is granted. That is much nicer than “Go away Mr Style”. It is great to hear that you appear to want us to see the project through.
I have stated on a number of occasions that we would be working with other developers on delivering this project.
We have been in negotiations with Affinity Downland and Guinness Trust, two of the largest, best-resourced and most forward thinking housing associations in the country to work with us on delivering the project and also to deliver a very substantial amount of affordable housing to the town.
They wish to be involved because they fully support the whole design ethos of the project, which Angel Property has spent the last several years acquiring and planning. There will be a very specific design code that will guide the future development of the site.
Having spent so long and so much effort in meeting with local groups and other consultees, we think we have now got a proposal that will suit the town very well. We are anxious to maintain the individuality and uniqueness of the project. Lewes is a very special place and we wish for the project to be something that really stands for the type of place it is and that Lewes people can be proud of.
I have a personal commitment and interest in seeing our ideas come to fruition.
The two Housing Associations currently construct several thousand homes per annum, so are totally geared up to deliver this scale of development.
It is not an easy project to deliver as it involves significant infrastructure works including flood defences, decontamination, road links, services upgrades, landscaping, street paving, lighting etc. As well as the construction of new commercial office space, live work, visitor car parking, a cinema, arts space, retail space and restaurants.
Angel Property would not undertake this project alone. We are planning to work with these partners in its delivery because we feel that this will ensure that the project delivers the maximum amount of community benefit whilst at the same time sticking with the architectural integrity of the project and Piers Gough’s masterplan.
Charles Style.

Re:GO AWAY MR STYLE - 2008/04/04 14:13I have come to realise that i have been negatively drawn into the pathetic pointless arguments on this forum and have decided that its a waste of my time. I am now taking my positive energy and i am going to put to much more meanigful use. Alot of things on this forum have cemented my views and given me the courage to atand up and declare my positivity in other ways. KEEP AN EYE OUT BECAUSE I AM GOING TO MAKE MYSELF SEEN AND HEARD AS A POSITIVE PERSON WHO CARES FOR HER TOWN.
