Lewes Matters Discussion Forum

Re:slums? - 2007/05/02 11:14 Originally I was quite enthusiastic about develoment of this site. Then, when I looked at the planning issues, and other developments by this developer, I had the creeping realistaion that my town could be completely ruined, by a developer, who was going to sell on his planning prmission, walk away with the profits, and leave us to it. I do not want to be sitting in my house looking at empty buildings, that do not contain any affordable housing, that are built on a flood plain, and are being increasingly vandalised because of a legal dispute, which was contributed to by a developer who submitted plans that don't apparently match the outline planning permission. Mr Style is refusing to take any responsibility for his unapproved changes of plan, instead blaming Planning officers, and his own customers, who you will appreciate wer originally so positive about plans that they invested in his development. People have tried to engage with Angel, but this is very difficult when they only answer questions that suit them.

I remember a particularly bizarre thread on this site in which Mr Style tried, unsuccessfully, to argue that an 8 story building only had 4 storeys- but with a 'tower' of four flats on top that didn't count as an extra 4 storeys as there was only flat in each level. I wouldn't care, but not only do I think it is misleading, and question why anyone would get involved in such a convoluted description, but it is exactly like one of the issues that has become a bone of contention at the Jam factory. This is only my opinion, but unlike Mt Style I have been associated with Lewes all my life, and will be here long after he is gone. I am not negative about new developments, as there can be some really good ones. This whole saga rings alarm bells to me.

Dear site visitor at IP address 38.103.63.61. We were forced to make it necessary for you to register and login before making forum postings because of the constant flood of unwanted and often abusive material that was being uploaded by anonymous spammers from all over the world. I'm sure you know the sort of stuff - viagra ads and the like - what a bore! But you can of course read the postings without logging in, and in any case it only takes a couple of minutes to register - you're not losing your privacy, but you're keeping out the spammers. So do please register and continue using the forum - we need your input! Thanks, Lewes Matters Admin.
