Re:The Jam factory - 2007/04/18 02:10 I can't say I am surprised by this, though I actually find it very frightening to think that Angel may be let loose on our own, or any town. Thank you so much David for providing facts, so that we can make our own judgement, without the spin. I am told that the car parking spaces are so crammed in now, that they are completely impractical.

Mr Style seems very good at blaming everyone, except his own company. Officers may be completey idiotic for not noticing that drawings did not match the approved plans, but why did Angel submit them, and why did they not draw attention to the differences. It all seems very irregular, and if rumours about Officers motivations are true, then it is unsurprising.

If everything is Southwarks fault, why has Angel not taken simple and effective legal action to resolve the matter quickly?

Re:The Jam factory - 2007/04/18 11:00 Thanks Sashka,

I've tried hard to get it right by interviewing Tim King and Gary Lombard of the Southwark Planning Department, numerous residents at the Jam Factory and Charles Styles himself.

I would steer clear of rumours though. For instance, Mr. Styles wrote a long attack on something I said at a public meeting and he wasn't even there.

Re:The Jam factory - 2007/04/18 11:17 You are right. I don't take rumours seriousy. In this case 'rumour' was a diplomatic euphemism for explicit comments being made openly made by individuals who are not allowed to circulate unsubstantiated gossip.

Please keep up the good work. Do you happen to know exactly how bad the parking spaces in one of the blocks is?

Re:The Jam factory - 2007/04/18 13:55 No, how bad exactly are the parking spaces in one of the blocks?

It's not my speciality, but parking is discussed in this letter from the Jam Factory residents and this response from Tibbalds acting for Angel.

Re:The Jam factory - 2007/04/18 14:11 I have been told that the car parking in one area is/was so tight that if you all parked, you couldn't open your car doors to get out. Looking at the letter there are a myriad of parking problems, including a reference to removing 8 spaces. Perhaps this is it.

Reading all this should be made compulsory reading for all Lewesians, understandably excited by the prospect of a new development. It is very sobering. This is exactly the kind of mess that this intentionally muddled application procedure of Angel property invites. of course other developers do the same thing, it is to there advantage.

Is it true that Southwark had no idea how many flats were actuually in block 'D' and had to go and count them? It sounds like an absolute free-for -all.

Town Hall Exhibition - 2007/04/19 13:23 The model on exhibition at the Town Hall of the proposed development for North Street ends really soon (by next Friday), so could everyone make it their business to go and write something in the Comment Books available - especially as this public exhibition and the facility to comment may/will be considered by Angel to be their public consultation
