Re:Town Meeting Wednesday 7th Dec 2005 - 2005/12/08 22:06I thought it was really useful, although does anybody really believe all that traffic could flow across the Phoenix Causeway?

Re:Town Meeting Wednesday 7th Dec 2005 - 2005/12/08 22:54The traffic is clearly a major problem with this scheme. Funnelling a minimum of 10% more traffic in and out of what is essentially a cul-de-sac simply will not work as the Phoenix causeway & tunnel are already blocked solid much of the time. It is a huge assumption that the changes at Beddingham will not only alleviate all current problems but also make space for a further vast volume of car traffic. We need a realistic and objective traffic survey before even considering this scheme.

Re:Town Meeting Wednesday 7th Dec 2005 - 2005/12/08 23:01I agree entirely, and what does anyone think is going to happen during the 5 years or more the development is underway? Lewes would grind to a complete standstill while the heavy plant, lorries and so on are travelling to and fro. Surely there would have to be another road bridge built to provide access to the site.
