Southwark Council on Jam Factory Tue 5th June - 2007/06/03 17:49 A NEW THREAD BECAUSE TIME IS SHORT:
THE MEETING IS TOMORROW EVENING.

Southwark Council meets tomorrow, the 5th of June, to decide on the future of the Jam Factory. When I interviewed Mr. Style in March he predicted the residents association would be "busing people in", and he was right.

It should be a lively confrontation, and instructive for Lewes residents. The meeting starts at 7pm at Southwark Town Hall, Peckham Road (junction with Havil St) and details of the residents' free shuttle bus from the gates of the Jam Factory can be found on their website myjamfactory.com. Get there early, as the Jam Factory is first on the agenda and the residents have only been given three minutes to speak.

The residents' final written response to Angel's applications is 29 pages long, and I have posted it on the pastdevelopments.com website. The new document provides, among other things, a detailed argument against the daylight impact studies done by Angel Property, which the residents claim are misleading.

Lewes residents should have a look, as our own daylight and views of the town will be affected by the Phoenix Quarter. The issue provides a further insight into how Angel Property does business.

Re:Southwark Council on Jam Factory Tue 5th June - 2007/06/04 09:19 Thanks for the link, David. The most frightening feature of the JFRA objection is the picture of complete chaos and incompetence of all concerned. Do we really want the same thing here? Are you going to be there tomorrow night?

Re:Southwark Council on Jam Factory Tue 5th June - 2007/06/05 13:33 I wouldn't miss it.

Re:Southwark Council on Jam Factory Tue 5th June - 2007/06/06 12:42 Good grief, the saga goes on, and on, all because this arrogant company completely ignored aspects of the permission that was given. Do these people not realise that permission ia about a community allowing something on their terms as an agreement, not an opportunity for a develper to do what they like.

I would appreciate anyone who was at this meeting giving us an idea of what was discussed, what the issues are and an idea of how much it is costing Southwark to clean up after Charles Style's mess.

What would prevent Angel doing the same here? Adding on entire stories to buildings without permission, ignoring affordable housing, and cramming too many parking spaces into a car park that isn't big enough.

just appalling.

Re:Southwark Council on Jam Factory Tue 5th June - 2007/06/06 16:57 I gather from David that a decision was deferred. Perhaps we can persuade some of our councillors to come with us to the next meeting so they can judge for themselves what to expect (a) from Angel Property and (b) from disgruntled leaseholders (electors) if things go as badly wrong in Lewes.
