Re:Town Hall Exhibition - 2007/05/16 23:53 I read on Myjamfactory that the saga at the Jam factory continues. What a complete mess. The latest postponed date of 22 May, has now been cancelled and there is no proposed new date to consider the planning application. The whole sorry saga continues...

Re:Town Hall Exhibition - 2007/05/17 07:01 Southwark appears to be in a complete mess. I gather the report for Southwark's special meeting was being written from home by one of the 3 suspended planning officers. Might this have a bearing on the decision?

Re:Town Hall Exhibition - 2007/05/17 14:52 I assume that when Lewes DC examine a planning application they would have to take into consideration the ability of the proposed developer to deliver what he promises, based on his track record. In that case, the council would, of course, need to ensure they have a clear picture of the balance of responsibility between Southwark Council and Angel Property for the Jam Factory debacle.

Re:Town Hall Exhibition - 2007/05/30 19:39 It appears that Mr Style has been in a payment dispute with the architects of the Jam factory, and that there has also been some criticism of Mr Style's 'Accountant'. I wonder if anyone knows where the finnacing has been coming from for this seemingly endless disaster??

Southwark Council meeting June 5th - 2007/06/03 17:22 Southwark Council meets tomorrow, the 5th of June, to decide on the future of the Jam Factory. When I interviewed Mr. Style in March he predicted the residents association would be "busing people in", and he was right.

It should be a lively confrontation, and instructive for Lewes residents. The meeting starts at 7pm at Southwark Town Hall, Peckham Road (junction with Havil St) and details of the residents' free shuttle bus from the gates of the Jam Factory can be found on their website myjamfactory.com. Get there early, as the Jam Factory is first on the agenda and the residents have only been given three minutes to speak.

The residents' final written response to Angel's applications is 29 pages long, and I have posted it on the pastdevelopments.com website. The new document provides, among other things, a detailed argument against the daylight impact studies done by Angel Property, which the residents claim are misleading.

Lewes residents should have a look, as our own daylight and views of the town will be affected by the Phoenix Quarter. The issue provides a further insight into how Angel Property does business.

Southwark Council meeting June 5th - 2007/06/03 17:28 I have also posted on PastDevelopments.com this interview with Charles Style and his brother Spencer that was published in the Independent in 2001.

In a candid conversation they discuss the Jam Factory, their partnership, their motivations and shortcomings - much for their admirers and critics to enjoy.
