Re:Town Hall Exhibition - 2007/04/21 11:24 Since Angel have not suggested that they would do anything differently, I take it they are planning to follow the same course of action that has lead to the big mess at the Jam factory. I will pressume that the 'rumours' about how this was achieved are true, and that Angel intend to try the same methods again, to ensure that discrepancies between approved plans and drawings go un-noticed.

Re:Town Hall Exhibition - 2007/05/01 10:57 I have just been speaking with my friend at the Jam Factory. She tells me that 'D' block which has been completely empty for 4 years due to the dispute is so neglected that it is now being seriously vandalised. Mr Styles father was doing some maintenance jobs on site, but this has ceased. I am told that the problem with the parking spaces is that they are too small, and are the cause of yet another dispute. It seems that if everyone parked in their spaces at the same time they would not be able to get out of their cars. I am also told that whilst this has been boing on there has been a planning log jam, as a number of planning officers were suspended. I wonder why that was?

I appreciate that some Lewesians think that those with the concern I have are very negative. I would love to see th e Phoenix site improved, but how clear a warning do we need that Angel cannot achieve what we need?

Re:Town Hall Exhibition - 2007/05/01 11:43 Ms Pozzetti, before you make accusations about matters on which you are relying on the opinion of a friend of yours who has no technical knowledge perhaps you would like to be sure that the accusations are factually accurate particularly if you are suggesting their is any impropriety between Angel Property and the planning officers concerned. There has been a huge turnover of staff at Southwark Council are you seriously suggesting that this is our fault. The fact is the building was completed in January 2006, not four years ago, it has not been seriously vandalised, in fact it has not been vandalised at all apart from a couple of windows broken and later repaired. The size of the car parking spaces has been checked by Southwark Council and they all comply with the required standards except two , these are to be used for motorcylce parking. The delay to the planning application for Block D has been for a number of reasons all of which have been explained in great detail and which we expect to be resolved this month.

Re:Town Hall Exhibition - 2007/05/01 12:28 Mr Style, do you know what the word 'apparently' means? I am sorry if you do not agree with me as to what constitues serious vandalism. My friend took a photograph of it. Of course if you had built the building properly, according to plans you wouldn't have a completely empty apartment block that is being vandalised. I don't care what Southwark managed to approve, I know from my own Council that they make mistakes. Angel however have been selling these spaces, and I understand that this is one of the areas of dispute with residents, and that it is a complete mess. I am sorry that you are not happy that I am raising the ugly question of what exactly has been going on in Southwark. There are people locally, who rather surprisingly, given their status, have been claiming all sorts of things about what has being going on there. My understanding is that Officers were suspended, and that they now have a staff shortage. Like many in the town I can't help but wonder why, and I believe I am entitled to enquire. I don't find your explaination, which is that it is all the fault of the residents (your customers)for complaining, either believable or admirable. You have repeatedly refused to accept any rsponsibility for any of what has happened. My opinion is that this is nonsensical.
I can't help but think that my local Councillors feel the same, which is why they have pulled the plug on the likelihood of working with Angel.

Re:Town Hall Exhibition - 2007/05/01 13:05 I don't know of many development companies who would find themselves with incomplete, and complete, but empty buildings in this commercial environment.

Re:Town Hall Exhibition - 2007/05/01 13:55 I went to look at the Jam Factory a couple of weeks ago. What I saw is more in line with what Sashka said than what Mr Style said. I'd suggest that anyone who goes up to London should spare an hour or so to see for themselves.
