The non-renewable resources needed to build and then fuel the buildings, the increased risk of flooding, the increase of traffic and the conspicuous consumption encouraged by non-essential shops and cafes ... I feel sick. What would be great would be for a. Charles Style to wake up to the real need of Lewes for low-density affordable sustainable car-free housing. Or b., For Charles Style to realise that he already has enough money to live on and let us Lewes people get on with the serious community-building we need to do in order to survive. Maybe just let the Phoenix reverts to the flood plain it once was. I've today given up our car, a minibus I've given to a charity via Freeserve. I've helped set up a car share with a group of friends. I rarely drive. We each need to be doing some serious soul searching to get to One Planet living. Congratulations on making a significant personal gesture towards a solution. Does it really make any sense to build on a flood plain with the increased rainfall expected from global warming?
