Re:New traffic plans - 2006/07/16 20:24The Phoenix proposal make a great deal the the 'Gateway' into the town. This funnels traffic westwards across the Phoenix Causeway into the heart of the town exactly as at present. The redistribution of vehicles that then takes place will do nothing to lessen the numbers of vehicles traveling up School Hill or going along Lancaster Street, Sun Street and Abinger Place. Indeed with the extra population, traffic flows will increase. Angel Properties have not thought this through. they suggest a no right turn coming out of the development into Lancaster Street. So you would then have to go round the one way system, up School Hill and then if going north up the Offham Road - then what? I suggest at little trip down Market Street and left up Market Lane - nice one.
