Angel Property |
Angel Property was founded in 1993 on the belief that good design means good business. Angel Property says "The company's strength lies in its ability to successfully find areas in need of regeneration and unlock a potential that has not yet been recognised." |

The Phoenix Quarter |
Charles Style says "We will be putting all the reports which we have commissioned on the internet on our website www.thephoenixquarter.co.uk at the time we submit our outline planning application. They were not as suggested done on the back of a fag packet, but were commissioned from the best available consultants in their fields." |

|
Past Developments |
If you want an idea of how Angel Property might develop the Phoenix Quarter in Lewes, it makes sense to examine the history of the Jam Factory in Bermondsey. Though it is nowhere near the size of what they plan to build in Lewes, this conversion of an old factory in London remains the biggest project Angel have ever done, and features prominently on their website. |

|
Phoenix Action |
Developer Charles Style is proposing to build 800 flats and small houses, a commercial and retail centre including shops, offices and cafes, a multi-storey car park, a footbridge over the river and a cinema on the Phoenix Industrial Estate. It sounds fine until you look at the height and density of the buildings – and the likely effect of building an alternative to the high street with national chains. The proposal isn’t finalised yet, but we’ve seen and heard enough to know we don’t want it for Lewes. Phoenix Action is for those who are committed to fighting this and other ‘clone town’ proposals. |

|
Rob Shepherd |
I believe that before Lewes District Council grants planning permission to any major development proposals, it should construct a comprehensive, visionary plan for the whole town, with proper consultation. If elected, I will fight for a freeze on major building developments while we create a proper vision for Lewes. |

North Street/Phoenix Quarter Proposals |
Key stakeholders are being invited to set out their own vision for the site in concise terms (400 words) and to participate in workshop sessions in February and March 2007. The work programme will lead to a report to the Council’s Cabinet in late April 2007. Please see the relevant documents section for the proposals and appendices, including: - Map of the North Street area - Summary of existing planning policies affecting the area - Proposal for integrated programme of planning work - List of key stakeholders - Technical Group meetings
