Lewes Community Partnership

Lewes Community Partnership is a company that has been formed to set up a visionary community and business space in central Lewes. We have just placed an offer on the Harveys Depot site in Pinwell Rd, and hope to acquire this site for redevelopment.

Lewes Climate Concern

Our town, well known for its green credentials, is the target of a year-long  campaign to ensure that every household is aware of the facts behind global warming. In this we’ll be working with the Sussex Express newspaper. Our job is to convince Lewes people that climate change is real and that we can all do something about it – it’s not too late. We aim to make Lewes a flagship town for climate change awareness.

LDC's One-Stop Shop

If your business is considering a large, or complex, development proposal, it will probably need a number of development consents, or licences, from Lewes District Council and also possibly from other public agencies. These consents can include planning permission; listed building or conservation area consent; approval under the building regulations; and licenses for alcohol sales, public entertainment and other matters. All this can be daunting for those wanting to carry out development, particularly small businesses, faced with meeting complicated, and sometimes contradictory, legal requirements. Lewes District Council is now offering a “one stop shop” service, so that you can get co-ordinated advice on all the necessary approvals from the local authority. This will provide a better service for our customers and reduce the risk of wasted time and effort in obtaining consents which are not compatible with each other.

Lewes District Council Planning Department

Lewes District Council Planning Department says...

"As from 1 April 2006, we will be providing formalised pre-application advice on major development proposals involving 10 or more dwellings, or more than 1000 square metres of commercial floorspace.  Provision of pre-application advice on such large proposals consumes significant amounts of planning officer time and, in order to provide a consistent and high standard of service, the Council has decided that the cost should be recovered directly and not fall as a general cost to the council taxpayer."
