Angel Property's planning application etc

Phoenix ActionAngel Property has indicated that it will be submitting its application in mid-July. In the coming weeks we will be publishing more material relating to the development - in the Stop Press section , Reports section and a new FAQ page.

Phoenix Action also plans some action.

Coming up this Saturday 24th June 2006 at 3pm Phoenix Action plans two events....

To build a cardboard wall  between Pelham Terrace and the Pells pond to ascertain the visual impact of proposed 1.8m-high flood defences in the ‘Phoenix Quarter’ plans. This is a consultative exercise aimed at exploring the viewpoints of Pells residents and others who enjoy this  special part of town; to that end it will be supported by the Pells Residents Association, and Pells Amenity Group. Friends of Lewes have indicated to us that they wish to attend and it is hoped a representative from Lewes Flood Action will also be present.

The second  event is to indicate the visual impact of the 6/7/8 storey aspects of the scheme. Depending on wind strength, this will be achieved using helium balloons attached to string and released to the designated heights around the Phoenix estate. It is hoped that people will participate by taking photographs from their windows, the Downs, the river bank etc. Lewes Matters have contacted English Heritage, who have been very helpful in giving us the sightline references they will be considering in relation to these plans, we will also follow this up with Andy Hill at Lewes District council.

On Monday the 26th The Lewes Matters sustainability team will meet with Matthew Bird LDC’s Sustainability officer to look at relevant environmental policies contained in the Local Development Framework.
