ViewPlanning Vision for North Street Area - update

Following the workshop on the 9th February, six of the key stakeholders representing Lewes residents wrote to Lewes District Council challenging the integrity of the process; you can see these letters in the North Street Vision section. Following our press release Blinkered Blinkered we are currently preparing a detailed report on the anomalies and weaknesses of that workshop, as well as a review of the timetable, reports and events that form the backdrop to this exercise. We apologise that it is not yet finished, but hope to have it available for the public meeting organised at the Town Hall this coming Monday 5th March at 7.45pm.

The Phoenix Quarter website - update

Our steering group has again been trying to find out what has happened to the 'Phoenix Quarter' website, promised for last November, as well as the 3d model promised early in the new year. We have received the following from Angel Property dated 26th February:

"We are having some additional artists impressions done and the scale model made, images of which which we wish to put on the website when it goes live, this work will be completed next week. We have had the web design done and will put the reports you mention on the website when the application goes in. In the meantime our timetable for making the planning application has been out on hold pending the vision statement. Likewise the website , we decided to do further preparation of the visual material pending the vision statement, this has enabled us to prepare more work that will enable local people to better understand how the scheme looks. So in answer to your question I expect we will be ready with all this material in March and will get the website online. We will also arrange to make the model and the new images available for local people to view probably in the town hall foyer."

Angel Property and the Jam Factory

This item, dated 3rd March, concerning a dispute between Angel Property and Jam factory residents has been temporarily removed. The developer has complained that the item "is factually inaccurate and although the matter is for Southwark Planning to decide nonetheless I feel the way you have presented it is damaging and misleading and is likely to prejudice the readers of your website." We will therefore meet the developer in the early part of this week, with a view to reinstating  the original item allowing Angel Property the opportunity to put their side of the case.

And finally, Transition Town Lewes
Having seen the film "The Power of Community" last Sunday at the All Saints and attending an introductory meeting with members of Transition Town we would urge as many people as possible to support this wonderful organisation. Our links page has a link to the umbrella Transition Town movement, but to see what is happening in Lewes go to http://transitiontowns.org/Lewes/Lewes.
