Last night the Lewes Matters sustainability team met with Angel Property director Charles Style and Ian Mackay, a partner in BBM Sustainable design who were commissioned to produce a scoping report on sustainability issues for the proposed Phoenix development. Also present were representatives from the Green Party, Friends of the Earth, Viva Lewes and other interested groups. The meeting was designed to clarify a checklist the developer had agreed to draw up, answering questions on many sustainable issues including green targets, infrastructure, retail, affordable housing and the integrity of section 106 agreements. It was hoped that following this meeting the 'checklist' would be published on our website, however after a lively four hours, there were significant points that required greater clarification from the developer and his team. So the publication of the checklist has been delayed until we receive further information.

Charles Style stressed that an application would now not be forthcoming until the new year, but that by the end of November the Phoenix Quarter website would be up and running, hosting Visuals, models and other material related to the proposed scheme.
