Lewes Traders Questionnaire Interim Report Approximately 170 questionnaires were distributed on Monday 24 April. These were handed to shopkeepers that were in the High Street only. 44 were either returned or collected on Friday 28 April. The 44 businesses employ 191 staff. 35 (80%) were independents, eight (18%) were branches of multiples and one (2%) was a branch of a regional group. Seven of the businesses were members of the Chamber of Commerce and of these four wanted a ballot, one did not and two did not answer that question.Traders were asked to grade their responses to four questions:
