The Towers!

Charles Style said...

"I would be obliged if these could be displayed on the Lewes Matters website. I will give you some dimensions which could be attached to them. It needs to be clear that these parts of buildings are modeled so as to have a slim profile, by that I mean that the shape of them is not always square but that they are in fact often two interlinking planes which will make them look less imposing. At one flat per floor, to describe tham as tower blocks or high rise buildings would be misleading. In the end though this is all being considered at the moment in the light of feedback we will shortly be getting from English Heritage and the planners and the final design will be modified in the light of these comments.

I have scaled off the drawings and the sizes are...

  • Block G, which is 5 and 7 storeys, is 20 metres by 25 metres.
  • Block H, which is 5 and 7 storeys, is in two linked section 17 metres by 12 metres, and 10 by 10 metres.
  • Block X, which is 6 storeys, is 13 metres by 13 metres, with a small rear bit 10metres by 6 metres.
  • Block U, which is 6 storeys, is a round tower element and is 23 metres in diameter.
  • Block T, which is 7 storeys, is in two interlinking sections 17 metres by 11 metres and  15 metres by 16 metres.
  • Block W which is 8 storeys, which we are considering omitting is not shown here but the dimensions are 12 by 12.5 metres."
